The photographic USB cable for professional tethering and charging of devices

The Mathorn MTC-221 is a 2 meter long photographic USB cable for professional tethering in the studio and outdoors. It is equipped with USB type A and USB Micro B connectors, to provide fast and stable connection between camera and computer.

Stable connection

Mathorn cables are first and foremost an accessory that gives fast and stable data transfer between camera and computer. Each product prototype was subjected to multiple laboratory and practical tests during photo shoots, using cameras from leading manufacturers and the most popular tethering applications. This resulted in USB cables that ensure uninterrupted and efficient operation on set, even during intensive use.

High data transfer rates

The Mathorn MTC-220 tethering cable is made with the USB 3.2 Gen2x1 standard, which has a nominal data transfer rate of 10 Gbit/s. Thanks to the highly conductive wires and connectors as well as double shielding of the signal lines, cable provides transfer rates of up to 1200 MB/s.

In practical use, this high data transfer rate makes it possible to transfer, for example, a series of 10 uncompressed RAW files taken with the Sony A1 camera (approx. 102 MB each) in just 1 second. 

Durability first

The Mathorn cables and plugs are made of lightweight PVC plastic with increased flexibility and resistance to mechanical damage. As a result, they are not only more durable than conventional USB cables with similar parameters but also more comfortable to use. The special cushioning of the USB connectors prevents them from breaking and at the same time reduces the risk of damaging the socket in the camera.

Ergonomics

Ergonomics is an extremely important issue when working with the camera. One poorly designed plug significantly complicates or even prevents activity when using more than one cable. For the Mathorn tethering cables, we have designed special, small plugs whose profiled housing ensures that the cable can be connected and disconnected conveniently, minimizing the risk of breaking the USB connector. With various applications and convenience in mind, the Mathorn MTC series cables are available with straight and angled plugs.

Colors

When working in a dark photographic studio, the color of the cable is not only a matter of aesthetics, but also safety. For this reason, the Mathorn MTC cables have a blue shade that we have named ArcticBlue. It is characterized by very good visibility in low light and against a white background. Despite the high visibility, the cable does not reflect on the subjects being photographed and the cool shade does not distract people being photographed.

Power rating and fast charging

The Mathorn tethering cables provide not only high data transfer but also the ability to charge connected devices. The cables with Micro B connectors offer a maximum load of 15W (5V, 3A). They are great for connecting smaller devices like cameras, portable drives and other devices.
