The Mathorn MBC-DV100AC is a compact AC-DC mains charger with an output power of 2×50 W, designed for V-mount / V-lock batteries used in film and studio productions. The unit features two independent charging ports (16.8 V / 3 A, 50 W each), allowing two batteries to be charged simultaneously, including batteries of different capacities.

Functionality and operation

Each charging channel operates autonomously, ensuring stable charging parameters regardless of battery capacity. As an example, a 100 Wh battery reaches approximately 90% capacity in around 105 minutes, while a full charge takes about 140 minutes. This charging performance is well suited to rotational workflows involving multiple batteries.

Clearly visible LED indicators provide real-time status information for each battery, allowing easy monitoring of the charging process without the need for additional settings or adjustments.

Intended use and applications

Although the charger is equipped with a carry handle for easy repositioning, its design is primarily intended for stationary operation. A ventilated enclosure with active fan cooling, producing a noise level of approximately 65 dB, ensures stable heat dissipation under full load. Importantly, the noise level is comparable to that of typical continuous lighting fixtures.

This makes the charger suitable for use in controlled environments such as film sets, studios, or control rooms. In such conditions, the unit can serve as a fixed charging point, supporting continuous battery rotation without the risk of overheating.

Construction and safety

The metal enclosure with grounding enhances user safety, particularly during intensive use, while also supporting efficient heat dissipation. The active cooling system maintains stable operating conditions when charging two batteries simultaneously, and the built-in protection circuits safeguard batteries against overcharging and incorrect voltage.
